WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MOTION BASE, A MOTION PLATFORM, AN UPPER PLATFORM AND A MOTION SYSTEM ?

A motion base is a component of the motion platform, which is a component of the larger motion system. The motion base provides the motion, the motion platform provides a complete simulation setup, and the motion system includes all the components necessary to create the desired motion and simulation

A motion base is a mechanical structure that provides the motion in a motion system. It includes actuators, sensors, and control systems that work together to create movements and simulate real-world environments or experiences. A motion base can be used to create various types of motion, such as pitch, roll, yaw, and heave, to simulate various types of movements, such as turbulence, vibrations, or g-forces.

A motion platform refers to the complete setup used to create motion in a motion system. It includes the motion base and any additional components, such as a cockpit or seat, screens, projectors, and other hardware and software components, that work together to create a full simulation setup. The goal of a motion platform is to provide a realistic and immersive experience for the user.

An upper platform is the structure or component that is positioned above the main platform and that can serve various purposes, such as providing additional space or support for equipment and components and the software that controls the whole.

Motion system: A motion system refers to the complete setup used to create motion in a motion platform or simulator. It includes the motion base and all associated components, such as controllers, software, and hardware that work together to provide the desired motion. A motion system can be used in various applications, such as flight simulation, racing simulation, or amusement park rides, to create a realistic and immersive experience for the user.

A motion platform is most often considered as being the combination of the dynamic motion base, the upper platform and the sofware

The “DOF” in the names of these different expressions refers to the “degree of freedom” they offer, which is a measure of the number of axes they can move in. 2DOF motion platforms have two degrees of freedom and can typically move in the pitch and roll axes. 3DOF motion platforms typically adds heave to the available axes of motion. 6DOF motion platforms add yaw, sway, and surge to the available axes, providing a full range of motion in all three dimensions. Custom motion platforms can be designed to meet specific requirements and offer any number and combinations of degrees of freedom.

Specializing in the design and manufacture of dynamic motion systems for simulators, our company offers a full range of products including motion bases, motion platforms, upper platforms, and complete motion systems that include both hardware and software components. Our commitment to innovation and quality ensures that every product we deliver provides a realistic and immersive experience for the user

WHAT IS A MOTION PLATFORM USED FOR ?

MOTION SYSTEMS ARE USED IN A WIDE VARIETY OF DOMAINS, INCLUDING :

Aerospace and defense: Used for simulation and testing of aircraft and spacecraft systems.

Automotive industry: Used for testing and validation of vehicle dynamics and suspension systems.

Virtual Reality: Used for creating an immersive experience for gaming and training simulations.

Film and entertainment: Used for simulating realistic motion for special effects and attractions.

Healthcare: Used for physical therapy, rehabilitation, sports medicine., and research (ex : robotic leg prosthesis development)

Industrial applications: Used for simulation and testing of heavy machinery and manufacturing processes.

Education and research: Used for scientific experiments, engineering design, and education.
